Liberty Junction Theatre was founded on a simple belief: theatre has the power to transform lives.

Our Story

For more than 14 years, Liberty Junction Theatre has provided children and youth with opportunities to grow through acting, improvisation, musical theatre, camps, and productions. Along the way, hundreds of young performers stepped onto a stage, discovered new strengths, built lasting friendships, and experienced the excitement of creating something together.

After a pause in 2022, Liberty Junction Theatre is beginning an exciting new chapter in Dundas, Ontario. While much has changed over the years, our mission remains the same: to create meaningful theatre experiences that help young people grow both on and off the stage.

Risk. Perform. Belong.

These three words are at the heart of everything we do.

Risk.

Growth begins when we are willing to step outside our comfort zone.

Whether it's speaking in front of a group for the first time, trying a new character, learning choreography, or stepping onto a stage, we encourage students to embrace challenges, take creative risks, and discover what they are capable of.

Perform.

We believe young people rise to high expectations when they are supported along the way.

Our programs combine creativity, discipline, teamwork, and skill development through acting, improvisation, movement, musical theatre, and performance. Every program culminates in a showcase or production, giving students the opportunity to celebrate their hard work and share what they have created.

Belong.

Theatre is about more than performing.

It is about community.

It is about friendships formed during rehearsals, castmates cheering each other on, and the confidence that comes from being accepted for who you are.

At Liberty Junction Theatre, every student is encouraged to contribute, collaborate, and become part of something bigger than themselves.

What Makes Us Different

At Liberty Junction Theatre, we focus on more than performance skills.

Our programs help students develop:

  • Confidence and self expression

  • Communication and presentation skills

  • Creativity and problem solving

  • Teamwork and collaboration

  • Resilience and perseverance

  • Stage presence and performance technique

We believe the skills developed through theatre extend far beyond the stage and become valuable tools for school, future careers, and everyday life.

We are committed to creating a welcoming, inclusive environment where all students feel seen, respected, and valued. Liberty Junction Theatre is a safe space for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and we celebrate the diversity of identities, experiences, and perspectives that strengthen our theatre family.

Most importantly, we strive to create an environment where students feel challenged, supported, and proud of what they accomplish.

Meet Melanie

Liberty Junction Theatre is led by Melanie Miles, a theatre educator, director, and producer with a passion for helping young people discover their potential through the performing arts.

Melanie is a graduate of Vancouver Film School and a certified Laban Movement instructor. Her background includes acting, improvisation, stage combat, movement, choreography, directing, and youth theatre education.

Over the past 14 years, she has directed classes, camps, showcases, and full-scale productions while building a strong community of students, families, volunteers, and performers.

Melanie believes that theatre is one of the most powerful tools for helping young people build confidence, develop leadership skills, express themselves creatively, and find a sense of belonging.
